As I see some of you are UK bound here's a quick reminder of what you SHOULD find in a wall socket over here.
Standard 13A wall socket ie in hotel rooms back stage etc L-N 220-250V, L-E line voltage as L-N, E-N in a building 0-15V any more than that watch it probably no earth on that circuit.
The common current values are
Standard socket 13A
Blue CEE plugs are single Phase and come in 16A, 32A, and ^63A varieties, there are others but these are the most common, voltages are as above.
3-phase over here is 415V and in gig world generally comes in 32A per leg, 63A per leg and if the Lampies insist 125A per leg, in most decent venues these will also come as CEE connectors which are usually coloured red, you will come accross Camlocks as well though they tend to be on very big events these days as the CEE plugs are easier to certify and more idiot proof etc though still meter them preferably with a par can or the like on each leg as a load.
Remember although the current halves for a given wattage, the wattage stays the same so if you use a 50kVA generator in 110/120V land you'll need a 50kVA generator over here as well. Ps 240V hurts if you touch it
