    Step-Down Mode on EV TL15-2

I have 6 TL 18" boxes(had 8 till I let a "freind" borrow a pair and they stole um). With the old 18B yea it seemed to reduce output in the step down mode. Mine are currently empty waiting on being reloaded with better drivers. As I calculated to retune them, the best thing to do was block the...

    Compression and dynamics and why

For a long time Ive had trouble wrapping my head/ears around why to use compression. I get what it does, I know what the controls do etc....its the Why factor I cant grasp. My view behind the mixer has allways been Im trying to amplifie whats happening on stage and even it off, not alter it...

    1980's local band PA's

Cool cabs. Speaking of Sunn 200s those are great guitar amps. Kinda wish I was around for the horn loaded ground stack systems era. They do look pretty cool I must say. and I loved that EAW system I ran.

    1980's local band PA's

Some of those old cabs were pretty cool from back then. I got to run an old restored EAW BH800/MH102 rig, pushed with Macrotech amps and it was very nice sounding. They were straight stacked though, I allways wanted to see the 4x bent horns port to port on thier sides making the giant 10ft super...

    1980's local band PA's

Ah, I follow that. I mean back when I started playing music I bought a bunch of lowend name brand stuff and mashed it together. Spec sheets...What is that?!?!?!?? But I also didnt claim to be Mr. sound expert either. As I went along I learned a little bit from musicians, but It was when I...

    1980's local band PA's

OK so aside from sound I also play in my own band. And we played last night a small place with a house QSC system, unfortuitly the mixer is on stage and we were not allowed to bring in our console and snake. So I was turning dials while our normal soundman was telling me what needed up/down...

    1900 boxes in rack

OK so I know you cant have 1900(metal junction boxes) boxes on stage legally, they have to be portable listed boxes. But what about inside racks, were they would be permanently mounted? I have a small rack with my monitor amps in it and I mounted a 1900 box (2x 15A recepticles)to the side of...

    Lighting fun

Thanks for the reply. Yea I brought my 3yr old down stairs and made it a fun project, we fired up a par can and stacked a bunch of gels till we found a cool dark/dim purple shade(like 5 gels stacked) and a sea sick green. 2 cans is all I need for a small graveyard scene...........to bad the guy...

Does anyone know anything about these? Not buying them or nothing just curious as to what they are. A local rock club has a pair of these in thier system (allong with a 2x18)on each side. I think I remember a popular local band having these in the late 90's allong with matching big square tops...

    classic rock reproduction

What about setting up one stack 2x18 sub/mid horn/HF horn as drum PA and second set as instrument/vocal PA per side. Duel PA setup. Maybe assign the Kick drum to both PA's(if it sounds better that way). But then figuring out how to physically stack that is an issue too. Problem I see is allot of...

    classic rock reproduction

Cool old horn loaded cabs. I used to drag around a Pair of Cloned JBL 4520 2x15 scoops about 17-18yrs ago, not flat at all but a cool kick drum sound they did and great fun getting in and out a box truck with no ramp.

    Passive Crossovers/ Zobel etc..

Well I got the woofers today. I installed one and dragged a wedge down to the basement. Hooked it to the amp that will power it wide open. Plugged straight out my ancient EV console that lives down there. Mains at zero, channel at +5, channel flat and brought up the gain slowly with an SM58...

    Passive Crossovers/ Zobel etc..

Ah so differant horn bell the plot is meaningless. I got a feeling by the time all is said and done Im gonna end up ordering a hand full of mixed value caps and resistors and hanging the xover out the speaker jack hole and swapping stuff till it sounds OK. Gotta reading an article on passive...

    Passive Crossovers/ Zobel etc..

OK a couple days after asking, the woofer seller sent me some data, I cant seem to copy and paste it here. I guess the 12"s are MCM 55-2952 never heard of them befor (heard mixed reviews from good for the buck to pooper scooper)there is a freq, plot on this data sheet. Would that help in...

    Passive Crossovers/ Zobel etc..

There is a freq plot for the horn drivers. When I bought the crossovers they said compare the upward slope of the crossover to the horn driver plot. The upward slope should be opposite the roll off of the horn so I picked one that was. As far as the Zobel it was really just a "that might be...
